2022 Ford Explorer

The 2022 Ford Explorer is available in five different trims: the base model Explorer, XLT, Limited, ST, and Platinum. The base model comes standard with 18-inch wheels, a power liftgate, and rear privacy glass. The XLT adds roof rails, sound-reducing front side windows, and an upgraded driver information screen, while the Limited features a PowerFold third-row seat and heated second-row seats.

The ST adds special styling, an auto-dimming outside mirror on the driver's side, and sport front seats. This trim can be upgraded with the ST Street Pack and ST Track Pack, both of which include upgraded brakes and 21-inch wheels. With the Platinum trim, you get adaptive headlamps, unique taillights, a two-piece sunroof, and upgraded leather upholstery.

The base Explorer, XLT, and Limited models all come standard with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which offers 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The ST comes with a turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 with 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, and the Platinum has the same engine but with 365 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. The 2022 Explorer has a new 10-speed automatic transmission, which allows for better overall performance, smoother upshifts and downshifts, and better acceleration.

The 2022 Explorer comes equipped with rear-wheel drive to enable a sportier design and maximize performance, improving its on- and off-road capabilities. It's also available with the optional Ford Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System, which offers seven different drive modes: normal, trail, slippery, sport, tow/haul, deep snow, and eco mode. The Intelligent 4WD option helps you optimize your powertrain and braking systems to deliver the proper amount of traction for road conditions.

As an available feature, the 2022 Ford Explorer offers third-row PowerFold seats that make it easy for drivers to accommodate passengers and luggage alike! With all of the seats in place, the Explorer can haul up to seven people. If you don't need seating for seven, you can easily fold the seats down and use the extra space for cargo!

The interior includes tri-diamond perforated leather seating surfaces and a precision-engineered center console with a rotary gear shift, producing a classy and refined look. To stay connected wherever you go, choose the available 10.1-inch LCD capacitive portrait touchscreen. There's also an available twin-panel sunroof, which allows the passengers in both the first and second row to enjoy a great view. The 12.3-inch digital instrument panel also makes it easy to configure the function and appearance of your driving information!

The Explorer comes with the Ford Co-Pilot360 driver's safety suite, which includes features like a rearview camera, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, Lane-Keeping System, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Reverse Brake Assist. Some features may only come standard on certain models.
